Marley...

It seems like forever since I last posted! But I am knee deep in various arty projects and commissions right now, so bare with me because posting will be much slower for a bit, just while I try to get them done.

The Marble Commission in my last post is, at least well underway and I'm looking forward to completing it so I can resume my usual pace!

Meanwhile, I thought I'd share a drawing I did for a friend of mine.
This is Marley, her very handsome and soppy Great Dane who has very sadly made his way to Rainbow Bridge...

A4, Bristol Board. Carbon Pencil.

Oddly, aside from his kind and soulful eyes, my favorite part was drawing the drool hanging from his chops! Bless him!

Hopefully I will be back soon with an update on progress :0)

  1. I adore Great Danes - they are so gangly and comic in their playfulness. You certainly have captured a typically soulful look. Can hardly wait to see the big marble painting!

    1. Thanks Susan.
Yes, that sounds exactly like Marley! I wanted a Great Dane having met Marley a few times, but Paul talked me in to getting a Labrador instead. I'm relieved he did because I think a Great Dane woulld have been way too big for the house. I am already forever tripping over Sherlock, who fancies himself as a rug in which ever room I happen to be in!

  2. Aw poor Marley, he's got such sweet eyes. You did a lovely job and I'm sure your friend was really delighted with such a beautiful portrait of her boy.

She is picking him up tonight. She's only seen the online image which already made her cry, yet it's not as nice as the real thing, so I'm sure she will love it even more :0)

I think I'm about 2/3 of the way there with my largest commission, so hopefully not much longer to go! :0)

  7. What a sweet face he has! He looks stunning, such a great expression in his face. They are impressive dogs, but would definitely be a bit too big for me too. A pug would be more my size of dog :)

    1. Lol, yes I agree - Marley was about the size of a small pony, so a Great Dane would not be a good idea for us! A Labrador already takes up a lot of the room in our house! :0)
