Well, as much I enjoyed painting the raw egg featured in my last post, I wouldn't particularly want to eat it!
So, I decided to boil one...

Not that I particularly like boiled eggs either - particularly those with soft yolks! Yyyyuck!
I'm more of a Toast kind of girl... or Crumpets, dripping with butter and spread with a thick layer of Marmite... Mmmmmmm...
My Husband on the other hand, HATES Marmite and won't come anywhere near me when I've eaten it!
Nope, a soft boiled egg is right up his alley.
Well, they say opposites attract... I guess they're right!
So what do you like for breakfast?

What amazes me - and you know my love for detail - is the exactness you use to portray your imagination. For me, as a novice, your colours are so right - perfect. The shell for example, phew!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing missing is pepper and salt ;) ... oh and some toast and marmalade and maybe a hot cup of strong Assam tea (with skimmed milk?)
Really brilliant!
Thank you John!
DeleteYou are right - Certainly the tea is missing anyway! I can not function without having had at least two cups in the morning!!
Wow. this is superb Sandra. Another clever composition, love it. Well I was a bread person, way too much bread in fact so I've mostly cut it out and feel a lot better for it. I'm currently eating a banana smothered in crunchy peanut butter melted in the microwave! Lots of protein right there! ☺
ReplyDeleteThanks Nic!
DeleteThat sounds both revolting and kind of nice at the same time... Might have to try that!! :0)
Beautiful work, Sandra, love all the details, and that sweet little egg cup. I do like a boiled egg once in a while, but definitely no runny egg yolk. Preferably no egg yolk at all. I once took a cautious sniff of Marmite in a jar, and that was definitely more than enough for the rest of my life :) Lovely whole grain toast with salted butter and Earl Grey tea - just perfect.
ReplyDeleteMarmite is something you either love or hate! Americans are quite alarmed by it! Australians are all for their own 'Vegemite' version, personally I can't get enough of the stuff! Mmmmm!
Deletebeautifully rendered. I do love a good soft boiled egg...not sure about the Marmite. I don't think I have ever experienced that! Love seeing your work though...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Maria! Well, the Australian version is 'Vegemite'. Ever heard of that?
DeleteMarmite is a yeast extract and looks like black tar and it's lovely and salty... It's true to say that you either love it or hate it and the nation is completely divided! I sent a jar to Crystal Cook once and she very tactfully said it wasn't something she'd be trying again, lol! :0)
Beautifully painted and so much fun! What a cool egg cup. Love the red. Great piece Sandra!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim!
DeleteYes it's the only egg cup we have in the house! Made a fun painting though! :0)
Sandra, this is beautifully done!!! Love the reflections in the yolk and the egg cup - fantastic!
ReplyDeleteAnd, for the record, I like an apple for breakfast - a HUGE, crunchy, Pacific Rose apple :) ... and gallons of tea, of course.
Kathryn XX
Thanks so much Kathryn! Wow, an apple? I'm always SO hungry in the mornings and I can be a bit of a piggie to be honest! 3 bits of toast or 3 crumpets for me! And buckets of tea! :0)
DeleteThis is beautiful, Sandra, mouthwatering! My favourite breakfast are croissants, not every day though, just for Sundays. And a big mug of coffee!
ReplyDeleteThank you Judy!
DeleteOoh, I love a Croissant too! Bet that'd be fun to paint!
What an amazing piece, Sandra!! Wonderful vibrant colors!!! My all time favorite breakfast is the simple bagel/cream cheese with a cup of coffee....hmmmmm ...time for breakfast!
ReplyDeleteThank you Hilda!
DeleteI had a Bagel with cream cheese for my breakfast only a couple of days ago! Yummy! But it has to be tea in the morning for me, until about 11am! :0)
I prefer sweet pastries or cookies with cappuccino :) eggs only for lunch or dinner! Very good and nice work...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Arianna! Sounds good to me... I also like sweet things! :0)
DeleteFeeling an need to balance this out a bit! For me, a morning that doesn't start off with marmite is just so wrong. Sets me up for a bad day ahead. Running out without a refill is a nightmare.

ReplyDeleteAgreed - though I’m not sure that Marmite spread on a soldier and dipped in a boiled egg would be very nice!
ReplyDeleteBut I hate eggs anyway - Marmite is my favourite start to the day! :0)
