Oil Painting of a Cracked Egg...

'Your Place, or Mine?'

8" x 8" Oil on Cradled Gesso Panel

I haven't eaten eggs since we had chickens.
My romantic vision of chickens grazing on corn and grass was rudely squashed when I found our three girls squabbling over a huge, mucous covered slug. From that moment on, I never ate another egg!
That said, I am fine when they are hidden in cakes or biscuits... Just not in their whole form.

That didn't stop me from wanting to paint one though and I enjoyed every brushstroke of this!
Once cracked, there was no room for rearrangement, so I just had to crack and hope... Luckily it plopped in to the perfect position!

So, how do you like your eggs in the morning?

  2. You're totally brilliant you are! This is so much the sort of stuff that I think is what painting should be about.

  6. Well, you already know I think this is fantastic but I wanted to pop over and say so again! I love it. And I love your new header - it looks amazing and really showcases all the reflect-y art you've been doing. Will there be no more teddies? I do love them but I also really love this new lighter, brighter direction you've been taking.

I'm glad you like the header. I thought it needed updating!
Will I be doing more teddies...? Quite possibly, yes. But I needed a break from them because they are very time consuming! Right now I am enjoying other things but I'm also planning some ore larger work :0)

    1. Thanks Kim! That was the hardest part to paint! Getting the shadows and light, cools and warms... Took some hard observation! :0)
