Belle of the Ball...

 'Belle of the Ball'...

8" x 8" Oil on Stretched Canvas

The question is... Am I finally all marbled out? Have I actually FOUND my marbles? Am I in danger of losing them again if I paint more?

Hmm....

  1. Well I see your mojo has returned! This is fabulous! no idea how you did that music sheet paper so neatly-it's crazy good. No I dont normally like painting the same thing twice but actually I may be about to as someone suggested something to me on saturday and offered to stock them and if it proves popular I may have to paint several versions!

    1. Thank you Nic! And that's really exciting news! Congratulations!!
I've always thought you should do a series of all things Scottish... all the same size, all different subjects, but all relating to the same thing. So, Scotch Tape... A Scotch Egg... Scotch Whiskey... a Tartan Abstract... blah, blah... No doubt with an entire series, a Scottish Gallery would surely snap them up! :0)

  3. awesome... and I often paint the same thing twice... and three times... nothing wrong with being really familiar with your subject I think... and sometimes it makes me experiment more... I refine to get it looking better and then other times get to push it as well so it is a win win... I love this though and so I can't wait to see you do it again!

    1. Thanks Tracey. Usually I would hate the idea of painting something twice (I bore easily), but this time I am itching to do it armed with a list of things I would do differently :0)

  4. I really really love this! I read you were not happy with this version, but I see nothing wrong with it. I also paint second and even third versions, but they are not necessarily better unfortunately. :)

    1. It's funny Judy, I have had two people already asking how much it is! So it seems that despite my own doubts, it's a favorite! That said, I still want to do a second before putting one up for sale, that way I know it's the best I can do :0)

  7. Oh this is gorgeous! I think you should definitely continue with these. I really liked the colourful ones you did earlier, but I think this one with just a little colour works just perfectly.
