Bon Voyage!!

Tomorrow afternoon, Hubby and I will be on a plane to paradise for a two week holiday :0)
There, I will be spending much of my time anything up to 30 metres beneath the Indian Ocean, surrounded by beautiful sharks (the bigger the better), doing my favourite thing
besides painting... Scuba Diving!

It's the perfect opportunity for me to wind down, recharge my batteries and refill my creative well. I'll be collecting no end of inspiration on my travels, which I hope will seep in to my art in the coming months... I feel lots of colour and light to come!

We begin our journey this Wednesday, so I will be completely absent from the blog world until we return in February. And it is on our return when I begin a new art venture! Meanwhile, you might like a clue?
Oh, go on then, since you asked so nicely!

So that's it - 'Bon Voyage' to me!! Hurrah!
See you all when I get back :0)

Happy painting all!

Arty Exploration..

I thought I'd share with you, something very different to my usual work today.
My Sister and I decided to do something a little 'outside of the box' to celebrate our parents birthdays.

They are both very much in to their family tree, so we decided to embrace that and create a portrait of the two of them, using only the finger prints of the two of us!

My Sister and I with the portrait :0)

Then, when we had completed the portrait, we added a row of finger prints in genetic order of who came next, starting with my Daughter who was their first Grandchild, then my Sisters eldest, then my youngest and my Sisters next two... ending with my Daughters Son, who is their first Great-Grandchild who arrived last year! Crikey - It seems we've been busy creating in more ways than one!

We had great fun doing the portrait. I had hoped expected that I would be having to 'place' my Sisters fingers where I needed them to go... but it turns out she had an eye for it too. I was quite put out impressed!

Anyway, here's a close up version...

Portrait made with only fingerprints

It's certainly not something that can be 'tight'... But I think that's what I like about it!
It's nice to experiment sometimes and this was a really fun way of doing that.

Well, that's it for today. I'll be back on Tuesday with one last post before we go on holiday!

Bye for now :0)

Happy New-Year!

I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and here's to a happy, healthy, creative and art filled New-Year! I wonder if, like me, you have set yourself some new goals for 2015?
Here are mine...

Manage my studio time better:
Create an appointment system where I write at the beginning of each week the times I will go in to my studio and stick to it!
During those times, switch off my computer and put my phone on to 'Do Not Disturb' mode.
Plan weekly meals in advance.

Be more productive:
Make better use of my sketchbook.
Aim to collect inspiration and ideas on a daily basis.
Complete at least two paintings per month.

Evolve (but not abandon) my style:
Allow for a more 'painterly' and 'fluid' approach.
Experiment with new techniques and mediums.

Share more frequently:
Post more regularly on my Facebook page and blog.

There -  I have said it now! So I can be held accountable!
That said, I will have to focus on my goals from the 1st of February as I will be on holiday for the last two weeks of January. So I will be completely off the blog world while I'm away.

Anyway, I will be back with another post before we go - this time I'll be sharing something completely different, so watch this space!

Happy painting all :0)
