Just Drawing...

There are times when I forget how pleasurable it is, to just draw!

After posting my Ballerina, I was itching to draw another - and I will definitely be doing that. Meanwhile I chose another subject altogether - quite different than my usual cocktail glasses...

This is for afternoon 'Tea and Scandal!'

I think this is most effective when viewed from a distance, as is the case with a lot of art...

I enjoyed drawing it so much that I broke out the watercolours and did another version - after all, how can we have tea and scandal when there is no one else to enjoy it with!

So, I have got the drawing bug again, but I haven't stopped painting of course!
In fact, I have just handed over my large bear commission and I couldn't have wished for a happier client! Their reaction made all the stress that comes with a commission well worth while! Hopefully I can share the painting with all of you soon.

Before I go, I thought I'd show you my cocktail glass all dressed in it's frame...

I love seeing them like this. I have always thought that choosing the right frame for a painting is so important and this warm, metallic frame really works well :0)

Anyway, as I mentioned in my last post, blogging will be sporadic for a while as Christmas approaches... I'll be back as soon as I can!

  1. I really love this piece but it's defintely more than just a drawing - it's beautiful and i love how you got the gleam of reflection on the white part of the china.
I'm not in the least surprised that the recipient loved the bear piece-can't wait to see it.

    1. Thanks Nic
It does look quite real from a distance, but close up it's not quite so effective. I'd quite like to paint a teacup at some point! :0)

  2. It is soooo beautiful... As is the watercolour... I love seeing you tackle all different subjects... It feels like there is nothing that you can't turn your hand to and make it look beautiful... Xx

    1. Thanks Tracey
I did these a few weeks ago but had to post them as an emergency blog because I hadn't had time to do anything else! Xmas preparations seem to take take over don't they? I enjoyed using other mediums for a change. And a drawing a new subject too :0)

  3. That looked so real.. Amazing..

    1. Thanks Prabal.
I think it's the toned paper that makes it effective. It seems to stand out against it :0)

  4. Sandra, what a delightful post - loved it! Your works are beautiful, and you always come up with such great titles for them. :)

    1. Thanks Kathryn
      I love choosing a quirky title! :0)

  5. Fabulous drawing, it almost looks real! Love the watercolour too! The frame for the cocktail painting is perfect.

  6. What precision to draw the cup! Arianna

  7. LOVE IT...LOVE IT!!!! OMGosh, Sandra .. it's a fabulous drawing! It's so realistic !!!! and your cocktail glass looks fantastic framed! I look forward to seeing your commissioned piece..

    1. Thanks so much Hilda :0)
I'll be posting that just before Christmas, so watch this space! :0)

    Gros bisous ❄︎ ♡ ❄︎ ♡ ❄︎
