'Where have you been?'
I have been asked that question a few times in the last few days! *Sigh*... It's so nice to have been missed, thank you!
Well, I had to forget about the last week of #Inktober when I realised how behind I was with other projects, like my bear commission. At times like that, somethings gotta give, right?
And this time of year is hard enough without adding on extra pressure, so I decided to step away, get on with what's important and get myself back on track.
And this time of year is hard enough without adding on extra pressure, so I decided to step away, get on with what's important and get myself back on track.
But I have been painting. In fact, I have finally completed my large bear commission but it's unfortunate that I can't show it in case the recipient sees it!
Never mind, I can at least show you a few snippets that won't give anything away...
It's amazing what can become of just a few suggestive pencil marks...
It's hard for me to show these because small snippets don't really work, but as a whole, the painting really glows and I am confident that the recipients will love it. And of course you will see the whole painting, just as soon as the recipients have! :0)
In other news:
I received a lovely email yesterday, letting me know that I've been selected to be featured in FASO's (Fine Art Studio Online) 'Informed Collector Newsletter'! I am honoured to be included! Apparently I am scheduled to feature on Tuesday 25th, but to see it, you'll need to subscribe, which if you would like to do, you can do by clicking this link.
Okay, that's all for now. Posting will be sporadic for a while, what with Christmas coming up, but I'll be back as soon as I can :0)

You're SO evil Sandra!!! lol..... I can't wait to see the rest of this painting!! LOVE, LOVE the books already!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to share it Hilda. It's hard to get anything from this isn't it! :0)

DeleteGreat teasers ... I'm always amazed at the text you put on book-covers! I know you like calligraphy, nevertheless it's a stroke of gernius
ReplyDeleteThanks so much John.
DeleteI love painting gilding on books... It's amazing the colours that are reflected in gold! :0)
Bonjour chère amie,

DeleteThese snippets look wonderful! I especially love the books. Looking forward to see the whole painting! Looking at your work, I'm once again inspired to finally try out those oil paints (New Year's resolutions #1). And congratulations about the feature. I'll have to look it up, but it certainly sounds great and very exciting.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kay! And yes do try oils, I'm sure you will love them!
DeleteAnd if you'd like to read the newsletter, you can see it here :0)

ReplyDeleteVon
Thank you Vonny!
DeleteI love painting old books... There is something about a musty old book with gilded text that I really love :0)
Definitely so teasing with these fabulous snippets and I can see from them some that lovely glowing quality you do so well. I've recently painted a young customers favourite cuddly cow 'Daisy' - semi hiding on the back. Kept thinking you would have done it so much better!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Jerry!
DeleteAnd I doubt I could have done any better than you! I'd love to see the cuddly cow :0)
Right i just left a comment so apologies if it appears twice! I don't know how i missed this post but i love the sneaky peeks-it looks like another Sandra Busby classic full of warmth and atmosphere. Your paintings always make me feel like I'm in a warm room full of wonderful things, safe and cosy while the weather is hideous outside
ReplyDeleteThanks Nic
DeleteYes, I try to go for that feeling of warmth and almost festive light, so I'm glad you get that from these photo's :0)
