Abstract meets Realism...

 'Purely for Medicinal Purposes!'

I suppose you could call this kind of painting either abstract or realism.
Close up, it is just a lot of abstract shapes...

...but when viewed from a distance they look quite real...

...Yes, you can see two Whiskey glasses on the drying shelf and yes I have done a similar one before which you can see on my blog header! I enjoy painting them though and since the light is always changing, they are always very different :0)

The one I'm featuring today is painted using acrylics on a box canvas. The other is painted using oils on a stretched canvas and I'll be sharing that with you next week. The two have quite a different feel to them!

It's quite a back track from the bright, colourful cocktail painting that I featured in my last post, but I do plan to do more just like that over the coming weeks, not least because they are a breeze to photograph! That last one I posted was caught perfectly in one shot! But taking photo's of these glasses on darker backgrounds never fail to leave me tearing my hair out and I have to settle with the best of a bad bunch!

Meanwhile most of my painting time is being taken up while I'm painting the large bear commission I'm working on - but I can't share it until the recipient has seen it at Christmas! Can you believe it's October already..?

...Gaaagh... I'd better get cracking!!
