Making Christmas Cards Matter :0)

I can't share with you what I've been working on this week, because it's a gift for someone very special and since they follow my blog, they might see!

So, instead I'll show you a Christmas card that I designed and printed, to send out to my family and friends...

And the story of the little bear is printed on the inside...

'Who, me?'

By Sandra Busby, 2012

...The little golden bear stared back at me with an innocent yet guilty look on his face.

..."Yes, you, little bear."
"Twas not me" he replied with a somewhat glazed expression.

"Why of course it was you!" I chuckled.
The little bear thought for a moment. "But how do you know it was me?"

"I know it was you, you dear little fellow, for only a bear would add ice to an apple brandy!"

I sniffed the apply aroma that filled the air."
Is it rather lovely?" I asked.

"Oh yes, he replied. It is rather lovely indeed!"

For so long, all of my arty friends have been sending me cards that they have had printed themselves and I have always thought that it is such a lovely and thoughtful thing to do. It just seems like that extra little bit of effort has been made and I always really appreciate that.

I, on the other hand am disorganised by nature and so have never actually got around to it myself - until finally, this year when I decided to get my act together and for once not send out my cards on December the 23rd, lol!

This year I wanted to send a special card out to everyone and it felt so much nicer than scrawling inside cards left over from the year before!
Not only that, but it's my way of showing my appreciation to those people who have offered me continuous encouragement throughout the year - How lovely you all are :0)

Anyway - I don't have the addresses of all of my bloggy friends (unless you would like to give it to me), so this one is for you :0)

  1. What a LOVELY surprise to have such a beautiful and thoughtful card arrive on my doorstep. I was so PROUD!!!! To think my Sister has achieved so much in such a short time. I know all of the Family are equally as proud as I am.
It doesn't seem so long ago that you didn't have any confidence in yourself and I am so pleased that finally you have realised what an incredible talent you have and are growing with confidence. It goes to show that a little encouragement from friends and family can go such a long long way!!!!

    1. And thank YOU Amanda, for your lovely embroidered card! It must have taken you ages! It's SO thoughtful of you - I LOVE it!!
And I appreciate all of the encouragement you give me - particularly when I have one of my confidence melt-downs! It means a lot :0)
PS. Did you get your card from Wendy and Gerald yet? They've turned a photo of their new home in to a snow scene and had it printed in to a card! What a great idea that was! And what a GORGEOUS house!! :0)

  2. Your little bear makes a lovely Christmas card! I also planned to be super organised and send out my own designs this year but then proceeded to pack all my blank cards away for the move so this year all my friends, on-line or otherwise, will be getting a card on my facebook page and blog instead (I keep telling myself it's better for the environment anyway!)

Yes, I've seen some of your gorgeous hand made cards! It's so nice to be able to share things in this way isn't it? But I really think that since you are moving house then you should absolutely send a cyber one to everybody this year. The perfect solution! :0)

Well, since you like him that much, (and since it's you ;0) then I will have to see if I can get a miniature print done for you on Vistaprint! I've no idea what it will be like but I will have a go :0)

  5. I've produced three different types of cards. They won't look as nice as yours as my camera skills will reduce them to rubbish! However, I will attempt to put them up on my blog this weekend! I don't know anyone's address!!

    1. Thanks Hilda - I love receiving home-made cards too - or prints of peoples photo's or artwork. I think it's just a little more personal - not that there is anything at all wrong with a shop brought one! :0)
